When do they come on ? Nothing in my owners manual about them.Just replace the blades . I'm just wondering if they are working or not. Is there something that is automatic when snow hits the headlight lens ?

they run w/ the windshield washers. at night you can see a 'flicker' in the headlights as they pass over the light.

i keep forgetting to check for the blades- can they be had from somewhere other than the dealer?

They're around $15 a set.

New blades will help, but don't expect miracles.

 

If you see a Volvo with headlight wipers, they also have heated seats. If you want to be real cheep about the blades, you can get a blade from AutoZone or Wal-Mart that you can cut to fit.
