Default Heater Fan or Resistor

I have a 2000 V70XC SE and when I turn on the Auto Climate Control (or turn on the fan manually) the fan runs for around one second then quits and the AC and Fan lights start blinking red. How do I tell if it is the fan motor or the fan resistor? How do I get the under-glove box tray out without breaking something? How do I get the fan out? How do I get the resistor out? Thanks!

I would start with replacing the blower motor. What you described sounds like the motor. When the computer see the motor drawing to many amps it stops the motor and flashes the lights.

Remove the glovebox insert (Black part) then the 2 screws holding the lower panel on. Then you can get to the blower motor to remove it.

I had the same problem. I found that there is a small vent to the right of the drivers wheel on the dash about the size of a quarter. If you take your air line and blow this out and turn your blower motor on you may fine this fixes the problem before you go through changing your blower. If you have changed the blower make sure you blow this out ocassionally as it becomes clogged with dust and will create the same problem. Good luck
