Default heating not working

The heater panel on my volvo v70 dont work

we disconnected it, opened up the unit, couldnt see any problems with it
connected it back up and it worked until we turned the car off

When you start the car, the fan goes to full and then turns off within seconds.
some greeen/orange leds start to flash

what could the problem be

ive tried replacing the unit with another one and nothing!

Its getting VERY COLD [:@]

Thanks

The lights flashing means there is codes in the system and possibly the blower motor or resistor is bad causing the lights to flash.

You need the program that will be able to read it. It is pretty expensive to get.

They are under the dash on the passenger side. You will have to test power going to the resistor and see if anything is coming out.

There is a couple of t-25 screws holding the lower dash panel on.
Then you will need to open the glovebox and all those screws will have to come out. But before you remove the screws pop the plastic panel from the end of the dash. There is a screw that holds the shock to the glovebox door. Remove the screw and slide the shock off.

You could remove the top part but they usually break when you try to put it back on.

The motors will only be the same for the S60,V70 2001 and newer and S80 99 and up.
FCP groton sells them but not sure if they ship to where you are.

Is this another issue that happens with alot of Volvos in general? Mine only starts making noises in the extreme cold so i'm going to wait to replace it until it dies all together or i cant stand the noise.

well, between the seat warmer and just the air that comes in from driving that would be enough to keep me warm for now. I dont use AC too much in the summer anyway. That's what moonroofs and windows are for.

Try changing the thermostat on the engine. I had a similar problem on my car. No heat would blow out of the vents even on high with temp turned all the way up. I replaced the thermostat on mine ...like a $6 part...now the heatworks great!!!
