Hi to everyone!
Every 30-40 k miles I have problem with throttle body and 'Performance Reduced' message. I would clean throttle body and it would run good for some time. Since cleaning doesn't help anymore I would replace whole unit. There is one on ebay for ~300$. Do I need to get the car to the dealer for proggraming or it's just smple part swap??

If got an eligible throttle u may qualify for volvo extended warranty. What's your mileage on your car? could still be covered under extended warranty. Even if warranty is out u should be eligible for software upgrade.Performance reduce message canset on message center for other issues too.Have to have codes to see what's wrong with it..

 

Thx for quick reply. I know it's waranted but I can't even get to the dealer. If I replace ETM is it going to start at all, stay stack in 'limp' mode or I'd be able to drive it?

 

I've seen it will set all sorts of codes in the system for the engine control system by just throwing a used throttle in... If u are lucky and get a throttle in a specific yr and comes of same engine and model as your car.. U may get it to work...The warranty have been extended fromVolvofor the theelectronic throttle moduleonly and it's for10 yrsor 200,000 miles whichever comes first.. It only covers 1999-2001 V70(ALL) or 2002 V70 (non-turbo)... Also make sure that your pcv system is not clogged. What is the current car u own?? mileage, model yr and engine would help.

 

The cruise control was failing on my 2002 V70. The dealer replaced the throttle body. I have no idea if they had to reprogram it.

 

Software must be loaded to a brand new throttle module. (2002turbo or all 03 and up will only need to initialize)
