I have a 98 v70T 2.4 and it is overheating since I drained and flushed my radiator yesterday.

The hose to the thermostat is getting hot and have been told that means it's working, but you can feel the hose is not filling with fluid. Then the person told me that it probably has air trapped and that I need to bleed the radiator.

BUT the radiator does not have a bleed screw any place at all, so how would I go about doing so?

Please keep in mind that I am just learning about cars and flushing the radiator was something to be proud of for me.

They usually do not trap air in the system that badly.
Usually you can fill it back up and take it on a good test drive and when the thermostat opens all the air goes back to the bottle.

I wonder if the thermostat is bad.

 

If the thermostat is bad would the fan kick on to cool it off, and that hose is still getting hot. I tried to release some of the air from that hose and very little fluid started to flow, but just a bit.

 

Remove the thermostat and drive a little like that. Usually when you drain off the coolant, it will take a few days to fill it back up. Keep filling the bottle/resivor until it doesn't need filled up anymore. The thing is, if you overheat the motor you can damage it.

Why do you say it has overheated?

Is there still coolant in the resivor tank?

 

If the thermostat is bad the fan might or might not come on.
The hose might get hot as well but still have no flow.

Do not drive to long with the thermostat out that can cause it to overheat due to coolant moving through the system to fast to cool it.
