Had the car towed to volvo dealer, "no oil pressure stop asap" fickering on and off.
i called today, they say that they have sent a e-mail to volvo Austraila tech support, asking for likley senario's. The Tech at the dealership said it might be the oil pump ? 8 hours labour, said he needs to lift the engine up about 1 foot to drop the sump? cross menber in the way...is this correct..??

That is correct.

Moparman The o-rings go between the oil pan and the Bolck. They seal the oil pan to the block for good oil pressure. The pickup tube goes into the block but the passage goes through the oil pan.
When the o-rings go bad it looses some oil pressure.

They are going to drop the oil pan today, and change the oil pan o-rings.
Crankshaft seal was leaking very bad, they are also going to take the caps of the bearings to
check for damage.

$554.00 Aus dollars, not to bad, hope there is no bearing damage..
i'll keep you all posted..

spoke to volvo dealer, bearing one great shape, bearing 2 in great shape, 3 had a bit of pick-up on it, no major drama, normal wear , 4 & 5 also great shape..
4 o-rings in the oil pan were totally smashed. Dealer said its from poor service history(not on my part i change oil every 5,000km).
car will make a full recovery, im happy.
it comes home Monday.
i'll let you know how it runs.

Oil pressure is 3 bar as tested by volvo tech which is normal he tells me?, oil light flickered in fifth gear while he test drove it,
he said the oil pressure switch might be gone, could it be another problem ? ,
or any other senario.

Might be the switch.
He needs to make sure the oil pressure doesn't fluctiate when driving.

The pressure must still be going to low.
Maybe the oil pump. That would be the next guess.

they are going in to the oil pump monday, if the oil pump is visually stuffed the will assume that is the problem and replace it, if the oil pump checks out good, there advise is a blockage in one of the galleries, any advise to clear the blockage at this time would be great.

Hi, Engine flushed today, oil drained, refilled.
light came on again 1/2 way down the road.
the car is not making any knocking noises at all, the pressure is starting out at about 2.5bar,
then drops to about .5bar under acceleration , the volvo tech's are quite confused as they say that it should be knocking or something.....
where do you think they should look next...
Two days before the flush they got into the oil pump it was full of varnish, they cleaned it and replaced a seal in the pump, all was good three times around the block all good then bang .5bar again
Any idea's would be great.

If they didn't replace the PUMP I would say that is the problem.

Next would be to take the engine apart and inspect everything.

they said oil pump was ok when cleaned. they say its not the problem..
they say the motor is varnished up.
