jurking along
Hi just bought a v70 2.4 petrol 2001 model, and there seems to be a small jurking thingy when driving steady at 70mph on the motorway, but only after driving for about 3miles does it start and then wont go till i get off the motorway and slow down. please can anyone tell me if this sort of thing is common i,e dodgy plug, air flow meter, bad electric connection or am i way off the mark and its a lot more
cheers gary

Default A guess

Hello, Miles/kilometers? Manual/automatic? Turbo/non-turbo? jurking thingy; please! Cross the "T"s and dot the "I"s- 1)Check the plugs. 2)When doing that, look over each coil for cracks or evidence of sparking. 3)When checking the plugs do a compression test. 4)Cleaning the MAF sensor ain't a bad idea. 5)Air and fuel filter age and condition? 6)No codes you say? 7)ETM update done? 8)Tell us where you bought this car. Kira

Ok here goes,2.4, 170horses, no turbo 147.000 miles ,manual, new fuel filter and plugs, looked at the the leads and coil's and they look fine, done a plug in test thing since last post and all it said thats wrong is thermostat faulty, so do you think this is the problem

p.s wots a MAF sensor and ETM update ,and bought the car of a local guy private sale and last dealer stamp was 103.500miles, and then just his word that he'd done the other service's at home

Default MAF and ETM Update

Hello, Briefly: 1) MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor). Just after the air cleaner box lid you'll see a section of plastic with a plug. It's a grid of metal which measures airflow to the engine. Many have seen rough engine conditions clear up after cleaning with MAF cleaner (a readily available spray product) DON'T TOUCH THE GRID. 2) There's a software update for the ETM (Electronic Throttle Module). Since your car was at a dealer at ~103,500 miles it was probably done but it wouldn't hurt to ask them. 3) If your "plug in test" pointed to your thermostat then change it AND your coolant temperature sensor. It could be all you need. Do searches on these issues and you'll see what people have learned about them. Kira ps Check on the age of your coolant before you start. Do it all at once, very efficient. K
