Okay so one day you just try to park your car. You put it in park,and you turn off the car off , but you cant seem to take out the key.
This is a big problem becuaseyour car has to remain open.
with the key still there...
this is open to car theft.
What could the problem be.

You did not specify year but if it a 99 or 00 model check the shifter ****. They like to break especially the lower right corner. Try pulling it out all the way then release the key. Good luck.

 

oh sorry its a 98 V70.
Ijust took a look at it and your right its broken.
a peace fell off the lower plastic part of the **** and when i try to pull it out, it seems its stuck. i tryed to pull it out but the one side seems to be stuck or jammed.
i dont wanna break it anymore should i get a volvo tech to check it out?

 

If you are not sure what your doing it would be a good idea to have someone familiar with volvos look at it. You can try pulling the **** out or if you want the key out you can pull straight up on the shifter **** and it wil come off. then you should be able to release the key,assuming this is your problem. good luck
