Knocking from front !
Hi All
Ive just bought myself a 1998 V70 T5 SE and love it. However..........
When driving on normal road conditions I can hear a knocking noise from the front NS, someone has said this could be the "Top Mount". Does this sound right to you?

Hello, It doesn't "sound" like anything. You're typing text! Ha-Ha. Sorry. It could be a top rubber spring seat which is shot. Grab the center nut with a wrench and give it a twist. If it turns without resistance the seat is shot. The sway bar end links (drop links) make a more of a rattle. How many miles on your '98? Kira

Replaced my front upper spring strut mounts about 6 months ago.
There was a muted banging from the front when going over choppy type bumps, especially when the weather was cold.
Took about 3.5 hrs for both sides.
((CAUTION: Do not remove the top center strut nut untill you have the spring compressed and free of tension))
