look to buy V70 R AWD 2000
Hi ! you guys. I'm new to this forums. I need help and you guys opinion. I'm thinking to buy a V70 R AWD 2000 with 86,000 miles. But I heard a lot of VOLVO guys said that V70 with AWD has a lot a problem and not realiable at all. and they are very expensive to maintain. I really like the "R" inside and out...I don't care much about AWD.
thanks

If you don't care about the AWD then don't get it. I would go with the T5 which does not have AWD, but does have the high pressure turbo. If you can find one the most reliable seems to be the 98 model year. I want one with a five speed, and they can be found. Can not get the R in a five speed though.

ORIGINAL: Volvo V70R
Just blew my drie shaft, $1300... Before that a Bevel gear... almost $1000... yeah, they get a tad expensive... like any other luxury car. But worth it IMO.
PS I got mine with 76k and now have 110k

They are not THAT bad. Like any other car, you need to treat it right.
As far as '98 T5 versus '00 R. No comparison. It's like a Mustang GT versus a Mustang Cobra. Very much alike, but very different at the same time.
I say drive the '00, and you will end up buying it.
What color? How much? I'm guessing it is silver, most are. When I say most though, keep in mind that there are very very very few of them (made in 2000)out there, especially with such low mileage.
Mine ('00 R) has 114k on it, 20k of which i have put on it. The only items that I HAD to fix, was the transmission needed rebuilt, but that was at 108K. An auto tranny going south at 108k miles, although not ideal, is not what would be considered unreliable. Still has original bevel gear too.
If the car does not have matching tires (tread depth)all of the way around, assume you will have to do a bevel gear in the near future, or at least pull the driveshaft and run FWD.
Also, check out www.v70r.com, there are ALOT of good resources over there.
