Default Looking to purchase a '98 V70 R...

I have an itch to get a Wagon. I like the mid to late 90 model R's. Just love that sleeper effect. I have my eye on a '98 V70 R, how do most people feel about that car? I read a lot of reviews about the AWD T5's and R, most were bad when they talked about repairs.

I guess my question is, are repairs repeatitive or one problem after another? Should I proceed with causion or RUN and find a 850 R?

I kind of like the V70R's but the AWD sucks on them.
I would not mind getting one but the AWD would be removed.

I was told by a local Volvo shop that the main issue is to run the tires down together. Don't let them wear uneven or install new tires with old. Most of the bad reviews on them that I found on Edmonds, etc., don't even mention AWD problems, just cry about repairs. I'm wondering if those people mostly don't notice things going bad and just wait till things break with expensive shop repairs. I've always considered the 70 series as improved 850's. :-{
