Default Loss of power

My 98 v70 turbo awd has in the last couple of days has lost some of its vroom. When taking off from start it is sluggish the gas pedal seems like it needs more effort to push it and the more pedal you give the less power you get. Also it does not go pass 3500 rpm and about 70 mph. Engine is not making any strange sounds. Took it to my local mechanic and he is thinking that it either a loss of fuel pressure or the cat converter is blocked. Any suggestions.

Do you have a Check engine light?
Could also be a bad MAF.
