Love these cupholders

Love these cupholders
As a current owner of two BMWs, I gotta say I'm impressed with the cupholders on my '99 V70. The front cupholders look almost as flimsy as BMW designs, but they actually hold up to fairly heavy use. I've had the car for two months, and the cupholders have not exhibited any problems. That's at least 4 times as good as anything from BMW. And when you've purchased replacement cupholders as often as I have, good cupholders really mean something.

Start getting excited then, the next Honda Fit will have 10 cupholders! (Sorry, OT)
But I know what you mean. Good cupholders are heaven. Crummy cupholders make you despise a car.
My mother had a MB for years and it never had cupholders. $40K and no cupholders.
Ooooh. The liter-a-cola.

Had a 1998 V70 GLT; cup-holder great. Even when broken, they still performed!
Just purchased a 2004 V70 R a few months ago. HORRIBLE DESIGN!!!
The "cup-holder" is in a similar location as the '98 however, it's got a flimsy door that will cover the cup-holder when not in use. Thisdoor makes the cup-holder useless. The size of the pockets is fine however you can't even fit a medium drink because the door restricts the opening.
I think they did not even bother to get a sodafrom the drive-thru window when this car was in development.
This poor design has been eliminated in model years after 2006- the "cup-holder cover" is now similar to a roll top desk.
I say; just get rid of the cover! Who cares? It's a cup-holder and it's always in use.

My 94 850 Turbo did not have cup holders. Volvo used to be really down on putting them in their cars. Then people literally bought other cars just because of cup holders. I find that wedging my drink between the emergency brake handle and the seat is just as good as a cup holder. I have the flimsy holders on all three of mine now though. They sure don't hold very large cups though. My 93 Suburban had great cup holders. I have a Thermos brand cup that fits in the flimsy cup holders perfectly cause it's narrow on the bottom and bigger at the top.

I also have 1004 V70 R wagon andI almost had a heart attack when my dear husband got in the car for our three hour drive to the dealership with his HUGE Mug-O-Coffee..I was sure it would snap the door right off....I don't mind the holders..I have the option of this weird placed one on the dash board near the steering wheel...but was advised that broke quickly....
