Hi - I tried to see if this was listed anywhere else but didn't see it. I have a weird question - is there any way a mechanic can make a check engine light go on? I just bought a 1998 V70 and it seems to "rev" when sitting in park andthe mechanic said I have to go to the Volvo dealership since my check engine light isn't on - he wants me to have the idle control module or idle control valve checked. He said that he can't check this unless the check engine light is on. Does this sound right? Both goingonly to the Volvo dealer and that it might be something with the idle?Mostly I just want to know if there's any way they can make the light go on without havingto go to the dealer?
I'm new here so if this islisted somewhere else I'm sorry for re-posting. And thanks for any help and/or advice.

 

Nevermind - it's still covered under the warantee so I'm just going to take it to the Volvo dealer and have them check it and fix it.

 

Please give us an update after it is fixed.
