mud unbalancing wheels
hello, i own a 1999 v70 glt with 150,000 miles. I live on a dirt road in vermont, which allows the inside of the rims to collect a dense layer of mud. this causes the wheels to to be unbalanced and vibrate, (not the same amount of mud all around). when i wash the mud off, the vibration disappears-problem solved. washing the rims daily is a little time consuming. does anyone know of anything i could spray on the aluminum rims to help prevent this buildup? thank you
Hello, After cleaning the insides of my sister's wheels I daubed on 3 thick layers of old left-over, bottom of the bottle, car waxes. Nothing special. Let it dry between applications. Never saw any dirt accumulation thereafter.
I don't know if today's silicones would work as well. They're chemically better, for sure, and would probably work well on a smooth surface for a while. My thick coatings filled in the rough surface of the wheel's backside, leaving the dirt with nothing but a "crumbling" layer of wax to stick to. Kira
