Default Music CD shows "Error"

My 2004 V70 with HU-613 show "error" when homemade CD is inserted...(even when that CD is burned at 1x!). Storebought CD's play without error.
My Friend's 2002 V70 with same radio plays all CD just great. My questions to the gallery are 1)"Is this something that I should take back to the dealer to discuss? 2) Would dealer swap radios because homemade CD's don't play? 3) Is there a secret radio code to correct this?"

Thanks to all who even read this.

Some radios won't play MP3 or home burned discs. My Sentra that I had would not play them at all. It would kill me to think of putting a after market stereo in such a nice car and it looking like crap.

Some stock stereos won't play burned CD's.

A few things to consider. Are the CD you are burning burnt on 630MB or 700MB media? Are they being formatted correctly i.e. with propper CD-DA lead-in lead-out 2 second dead space and the proper CD-DA indexing system. Most modern after market car CD players will play ordinary WAV files on CD-R even those that don't support MP3. The Stock HU-613 however doesn't appear to support media which does not comply with the CD-DA standard. Some genuine CD producers started falling foul of the copyright limitations which are possible with CD-DA and are now using mixed format techniques which don't always play correctly on traditional CD-DA devices. Dido Life for Rent is one example.

I bought myself a nice Sony CDX-F5500 for under 100GBP. Nice in black so blends in well with the dash on my V40. Plays everything I've got .
