Need to add power steering fluid but uncertain what is currently inside...
I recently purchased a 2001 V70 T5, 200k miles on it.
The power steering fluid is well below the fill line however I am uncertain what is currently in there. I have read that the manual wrongly states that ATF should go in, but CHF-11s is actually what is called for.
I dabbed some of the fluid on to a paper towel and the color is nearly clear sort of dirty yellow tone, the fluid itself did not seem thick or red or brown at all so I doubt it is ATF. However it does not appear very green so I also am uncertain if it is CHF-11s or anything close to the factory fluid...
So is it safe to just mix in several ounces of CHF-11s or does this situation require that I flush out what's currently in there and start from scratch...?
Attached a picture of the towel / fluid sample.
Appreciate the guidance here!
