need car which to get
hello all,
i am new to this forum. i am in the market for a volvo wagon. 1998-2002 ish. as i am not familiar with the in's and out's of these cars i wanted to get some feed back as to what to look for and questions to ask. i will be selling my 2001 Allroad. i would like a car that is simpler ... no air bag suspension, no all wheel drive. so what are the common problems with the volvo's? is there a year that is better then others? i do favor the newer body style.
thanks in advance for your insights

RE: need car which to get
Many people think 98 was some of the best Vovlos made. It was the year before Ford bought the company. I have a 98 V70 GLT that is very reliable. I would look for a 98 V70 T5 and the main thing to look for is maintenance records. I would take a car with 150K and proper maintenance over one with 100K and no maintenance. It's important to keep the timing belt changes when schedule. The 98 is every 70K or five years. By the way the 850 wagon is pretty much the same car as the 98 V70 so a 96 or 97 850 wagon would not be a bad choice either.

I have a 98 V70T5 and a 96 850 Turbo wagon, both have around 165k on them and run and look excellent. All mantainance has been done on them since new, I am the third owner on bothvehicles. They do have their quirks, but that is what the forum is for
:-)
The biggest difference is the design of the interior. I am a fan of the 850 dash, with the window switches in the center console. My wife likes the new style dash.TheT5 is 236HP,the 850 222 HP, and they have plenty of pickup. Search some of thepostsfrom Tech and JPN to see what maintainance is important on these vehicles.
