2001 V70 XC Turbo 2.4L. Had radiator replaced at radiator shop last week. Drove home and had vibration in gas pedal when accelerating. The more aggressive in the acceleration the more the vibration. Once at steady speed not too noticable. Also, the engine seemed more noisy during the acceleration. I would describe it as tromping on the accelerator in a carburatored vehicle without an aircleaner. About 50 miles later got the dreaded "Check Engine" light. Pulled codes and have PO333 "knock sensor circuit high imput" and PO442 "Evap Emission Control System Leak (Small)". Could something have been disturbed when the radiator and upper and lower hoses were R and R'd? Any guidance appreciated. George V70

 

Hello, Yes, something could have been disturbed. There are vacuum connections to the EVAP purge system mounted on the radiator fan support. At 10 years of age any of that plastic stuff can break. There are radiator shops which only work on the radiators themselves after they've been removed from the car. Were these guys doing you a favor? Kira

 

No favor. Paid full price. It simply didn't vibrate when I brought it in and now it does and a CHeck Engine light as a bonus.. Granted the plastic parts could have been brittle and easily broken. I wanted to give them a chance to see if they could have goofed something before I bring it to Volvo. George V70

 

Hello, You should give them a chance. I was being sarcastic when I said, "...doing you a favor?" In my neck of the woods radiator shops seem truck orientated. Today's radiators, with their tight clearances and unrepairable plastic tanks, don't fit the old radiator shop mold. Good luck, Kira

 

Gee, I should have gotten you sarcasm as I am one who is very sarcastic. Ha.
In Shanghai now. et home Saturday. I had alrady called the shop and told them i would be by and they are fine with it. A not-so-funny side note though. We had purchased the life-time oil changes from the dealer and my wife just had it changed yesterday. They found a coolant leak.
Oh well.
