Default Oil leak under timing cover

I inherited a '98v-70 xc from a brother-in-law who doesn't work on his cars. I brought to the warehouse to join it's buddies -- a 2003 olds minivan with manifold gaskets going out, a 96 sw2 that my "b-i-l" also gave me, and a 92 exploder. I charged the battery on the v70, thinking that it was bad, only to find out the alternater was not working. I finally got it out to find that the brushes were soaked in oil from a leak that seems to be coming from about the mid-level on the block. My "b-i-l" had the main seal replaced last year, and it actually wasn't too wet at the bottom or the top, only from the belt carrying it. Any ideas?

There is nothing really mid level that will leak. If it is under the timing cover has to be either cam seals or crank seal. The cam seals commonly leak.

Default v70 XC

Ok, I'll take a look at that area. I might put the alt. back on and run it without the timing cover to watch for the leak
