Default Is oil on spark plugs an issue?

Just recently replaced my spark plugs to complete tune up since purchacing the 02 v70 T. I noticed that three of the 5 spark plugs had oil on the threads. The electrodes didn't seem to have much on them however. The other two were relatively clean. I suspect that the plugs had probably been recently done as the gap was still a tight .028 and they looked pretty new. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks, Shawn

It depends I gues where it came from, a new oil cap gasket helps keep it out of the top, but a miniscule amount is not really bad i guess for a turbo. have your oil trap checked?

There isn't that much. It's like someone brushed some oil on the threads instead of an antisieze compound. It doesn't look as though there has ever been oil leaked in from the top via a faulty gas cap. Pretty clean! When inspecting the oil trap what am I looking for? That the two lines aren't clogged or am I openning it up for a peak inside?

Thanks, Shawn

thats what i was thinking, just did some spark plugs the other day, and same thing, no problem. Now the oil trap, i dont think you have the correct tool to check it. you check it at the dipstick with a vacuum gauge, a miniscule vacuum gauge is needed as it there is barely any there, pressure there indicates a clog. usually at the banjo bolt on the intake and the skinny hose from it is where oil dries up. it can be cleaned, but usually a new hose is needed, as its brittle. your dealer has the gauge and i am sure if you ask them, they will do it no charge.

To check if the dipstick is "sucking" I've used the smoke of a blown out candle, or what ever else you have handy.
