Default Original Exhaust & Aftermarket CAT Fitted - Noisy

Hi,

Just has an original exhaust fitted to my 1999 2.5 10v and an aftermarket cat. The Exhaust was only £217, about the same price of an aftermarket. Original CAT costs £553, too expensive. Anyway I am getting a gurgle gurgle, v8 sound from 20 - 40mph, after this can't hear it. Took it back to the garage and they said oh yeah that will be the CAT, needs carbon to build up then it will get quite. Is this a bully story?

The aftermarket cats are louder than the OEM ones. It will not get quiet.

Question

Update, the rep from the CAT company went to the garage today and exchanged it for a new one, problem still there, said the car is running rich on fuel. Garage put some injector cleaner in and said see if this helps, not sure if they done anything about the fuel? how do you adjust the fuel?
Maybe I have a faulty original exhaust?

The computer adjusts the fuel.
But many sensors tell the computer where it needs to set things.
Maybe you have a vacuum leak.

Still noisy. Been back to garage to see if there are any leaks, they couldn't find any.
Is there an easy way for me to check for leaks?

the original cat has a small muffler built into it, after market cats wont have this muffler.
(this is for the 850, i would be suprised if the v70 is different)
