Hi All:
My wife's '98 V70 passenger remote works to lock, but not to unlock. The inside lock/unlock switch also will not unlock the door.
You can manually reach around and unlock the door by pulling up the ****. Does this sound like the lock mechanism needs to be replaced? Or is there any chance that lubrication of the unit might make the repair?

Sounds like the typical lock assembly is bad.

 

Is the solution just replace the lock assembly? No lubrication or repair options?

Sorry but only replacement. There is usually a plastic piece inside that breaks.
If you listen real closely you can hear the motor try to unlock it but since the plastic is broke it cannot unlock it.

Hey pconfar, I have the exact same problem but it has happened to my front and rear left passenger doors. Does any one know how much a new lock assembly would cost?
