antifreeze/coolant?
My friend told me that i cant just use any out of the autostore that i will have to go get it from the dealership as it says in my manual.
"use only Volvo brand anti-freeze" i was wondering if i could use PEAK Antifreeze as its a real good brand and it is just as pricey as Volvo one
what do you people use and recommend?
i got a 2001 V70 T5

Antifreeze/coolant, like brake fluid, tranny fluid, oil, etc., is made to a spec. What's the SAE type spec for genuine Volvo antifreeze/coolant? Match it, and you're, excuse the pun, cool.
The biggest difference in coolants is the presence or absence of silicates in solution. Long life types don't have silicates which can chew up water pumps where the tolerances are especially tight. Silicates are a rush/corrision inhibitor. So are the "organic acids" in the long-life type.
I can't tell you what Peak is nowadays. Look in the back of the manual for coolant spec -- there is no way Volvo sells enough cars to make its own coolant. Except, it does blend that special Swedish glacier-melt water into it!
