Problem with power locks

Hi all. I am having a strange problem with the power locks on my 1998 V70 Wagon. The locking switch on the door and on the remote will lock all the doors, but will NOT unlock them (except the tailgate which does unlock). When the button is pushed, you can hear all of the locks (all four doors) fire as if they are trying to open but they do not unlock. Also, the key will not unlock the driver side door - it just doesnt turn. Again, both the key and the switch/remote unlocks the tailgate with no problems.
My guess is that something is jammed or broken in the front driver side door lock - but why would it affect all the other locks? Any ideas? Any help would be sincerely appreciated as i'll be entering the car through the tailgate until i figure it out... could be worse I know.

Thanks for the laugh. I envision someone calling the police!
Welcome to the Forum.
It sounds like thekey lockis causing 'switch bouncing', The unlockbuttonsends the signal to unlock, then the stuck key lock over rules it. Try some silicone lube in the key hole and cycle it with the key. Maybe a few taps after.

thanks for the tip. i will try that today. glad everyone got a good laugh out of the tailgate thing, i live in the city so it is even more sketchy climbing into a car parked on the street. i have gotten good at faking like i'm getting something out of the trunk and then quickly jumping over when noone is looking. looking forward to a solution - cheers all.

Open the door and look for a little rubber plug.
Remove the plug and with a good flashlight look through the hole.
You should see the rod from the lock cylinder to the lock assembly.
Make sure it goes into the lock assembly and isn't outside where it goes jamming the lock cylinder.
The rod will go into a star looking hole in the lock assembly.

it looks like the rod is going correctly into the lock cylinder. i took the door apart and everything in there seems to be working correctly. it is as though i have the wrong key. i just bough the car at a dealers auction and was only given the one key. should i have a seperate key that opens the doors? i didnt think so because the key opens the tailgate.
