Default Radiator replacement

I want to replace the rad in a 98 v70 turbo. Getting to everything has been simple so far because i have the front bumper off of the car.

My question is how does the oil lines come out of the rad. From what i've read the metal clips are to be squeezed and you should be able to pull the line out. Is that correct. I see the seperation in the clip that allows room to squeeze but when i pull the line it doesnt want to budge. this car has less than 40k on it so i cant imagine its corrosion.

Heres the connection

Also i was informed that volvo recommends that those clips be replaced once removed, are they really one time use? does it have to be forced out inturn breaking the clip?

TIA.

Couple things:

1. Get new O-rings for the cooler lines from dealer.

2. NOTE the orientation of the clip, it has a thin and wider end.
(I think the small end is toward the radiator, I may be wrong but check):

3. When all done, install a single screw-type clamp around the clip. This clip has the tendency to come out randomly.
The Volvo mechanics always advise people to use an additional clamp like this:

Thx for the info.

So since a screw type clamp is recommended to hold the hose in a little more securely, i take it that it means the clip has to be separated and not squeezed together in order to release the hose? is that correct? What needs to be done to the clip in order to release the hose???

1. To remove the clip, use either:
a. A flat blade screw driver but it is very tricky, it takes quite a bit of force to spread the clip and removing it at the same time.
b. The circlip pliers ($8-10 at autoparts store) make your life much simpler, you basically spread the clip (lock the pliers in place), then remove the cooler hose.

2. To re-install:
- Install the factory clip (thin end towards to radiator) on the hose
- Insert the cooler hose with new O-rings until it "clicks" in.
- Then apply a screw-type clamp around the factory clip for double insurance.
See the pic I posted above.

Just a follow up question. The radiator mounts are busted on my car. but the rest of the rad is in good condition(less than 40k on it). Is there any way to replace only the mounts on it?

Maybe drill a hole in the remaining plastic mount and use zip tie or copper electrical wire (the solid copper wire used in the house wiring) and tie it to something above it?
