The plastic parts covering the windshield motor and other parts is fully loose and rattling around on my 98 V70R. I have a feeling this is a pattern failure type thing from slamming the hatch closed. Is there a repair kit that can be bought to fix this and basically correct the factory defect? Where can I order such a kit? I don't want to just replace the original Volvo stuff with Volvo stuff unless they've admitted the error of their ways and created a permanent repair.

Good luck. I bought the kit but haven't been able to get the cover all the way off. It seems to get stuck on the inside handle and I'm afraid I'm going to break something getting it off.

 

The inside handle has to be removed. It can be carefully pried off. Be careful as I think it's designed to disintegrate upon removal...

 

Look down from the top of the panel with the hatch open. Look closely and you can see where the ring snaps into the inner handle. Carefully with a long screwdriver slide down with pressure on the panel and push the tabs in one at a time to get them loose. There is 3 total once all are loose the ring will fall out.

 

Its been awhile since I broke something so I guess I'll give it a try. Thanks for the lowdown.

Never seen it and the pic shows nothing.

 

I think it's a set of colored screws that are to be screwed through the panel, screw heads remain exposed like hanging drywall. I can't say for certain as I did not uy the kit. I read it somewhere can't remember where. The low price, vague picture and seller needing the color of the interior is a good hint that something is going to be exposed.

I've seen better kits out there using metal brackets and connectors that are similar to OEM.

 

The hatch on my v70r volvo closes fine, however the warning light is on.
Is there a switch within the latch mechanism that can be repaired?
