Default rear seat release latches not functioning

Our rear seat release latches seem to have stopped functioning. I am able to move the latches to the unlocked position, but without completing their intended function. The seat backs are stuck. Is there any way to manually release the seats? We need to transport a new grill home! Thanks in advance for any help.

Default Seat back latch inoperative

Any luck on a solution to the broken seatback latch? Mine seemed to break during a very cold day. Now the latch depresses with no resistance. Other side fine. Probably a wimpy plastic part inside that got brittle in cold weather. You would think Volvo would have that covered considering the Swedish winters.

Anyone find a solution to this problem? Mine is doing the same thing. And without folding seats this station wagon is pretty much useless to me.
