Default Rear second row seat won't come back up

Not critical but irritating problem. On 98 v70 xc awd with third row seating, the second row behind driver seat is stuck down. The seat belt won't release. Only have about 14 inches of play in seatbelt and it won't unlock. Any easy fix?

Hello, In all likelihood the button which stops the belt from retracting has broken off. It's a common problem and requires you to reach into the gap between the seat cushion and back to remove the bolt (14 or 15mm) which anchors the belt. You'll need an extension. They have the button at the parts counter or you can use a decorative stud from a costume shop as I did. It saved me the $5+. I have spares if you want. I can get you the part number tomorrow. Kira

Hello to you and thanks. I'll try that. A few months back the dealer said they'd have to take apart the whole seat etc etc and estimated it would be $$$ of labor.

I recently had this problem in my 2007 V70R. The driver rear seat belt bolt was easy to access by simply pulling up on a bolster piece. The larger passenger rear seat was restricted by the middle seat belt. I had to force the seat up as far as possible to then pull up on the seat cushion and flip it towards the front seats. The middle seat belt bolt was easily accessed then. Fixed both in about 20 minutes. From now on I will buckle these in before letting the seats down.
