Rear tailgate stuck

My v70 tailgate won't open any suggestions on how to manually open it ?

Assuming you've tried inside and outside to no avail, remove the interior panel to get to the latch mechanism.

iv just pulled the panel forward tried to push down the latch no good still not opening

Rats! Keep working in there to try to get to the mechanism. I think you can take the rear panel without ruining it. Even if you do ruin it, you can replace it. Be careful and patient.

Did you get it open, is the panel in more than one piece, what did you find ??

I have that carpet protective mat in the back and sometimes I close the hatch on it...when I do that my tailgate won't open I have to push the hatch real hard then use the handle to open it.
