Default Reccomendations

Hello All,

I am new to this site and I have been looking into buying a used v70 wagon. I really like the looks and the interior. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I am not afraid to work on the car myself ( I have always worked on cars myself ). But I have read some horror stories about the v70 and then I have heard the polar opposite... Most of the bad reviews seem to be people who do not work on their cars and make me think they may have neglected to maintain the car. Can anyone give me input on buying one? Or a similar vehicle, maybe even a non Volvo... Although I would prefer a Volvo.

Smile used v70

we have an 02 v70xc with 114k on it that we bought as a CPO car in 2004. The car to date is flawless, with regular maintenance. If your budget allows CPO is the way to go.

Most reviews I have read about V70's being bad were people that were getting jacked by the stealer or some other repair person. If you understand cars, just make sure you don't get one that has been 100% trashed and neglected.

I'm approaching our 1 year anniversary with our '02 V70 with 86,000 miles. I have mixed feelings about it. I would agree with the other postings, I'm not very mechanically inclined so I'm a bit anxious over the car since it has so many miles - although I am reassured since its a Volvo it is just getting broken in. It is the sharpest wagon out there and Volvo does a great job of keeping their designs current even though it's 9 years old. Mine is black with dark tinted windows, I get compliments all the time. I purchased mine from a local independent Volvo guy. He buys Volvos with slight body damage - mostly pre-2003 or so and replaces body panels and such and re-sells. He has 3 or 4 nice wagons for sale now including a sharp white x-country and I believe a V70 turbo. I believe they are all $10K or less. I can put you in contact with him or get pics if you are iinterested. We are near Charlotte, NC (just inside S Carolina).
