replacing etm

I have an almost new etm from a '99 s70, I tried putting it on a '99v70 but of course the software is not right so the car doesn't run right. I called the dealership and asked them if they hook the car up to the software machine if it would reprogram the etm to my vehicle(or my vehicle to the etm, whichever way it works). The service man told me that once the etm is programed he doesn't think it is able to be reprogramed but he wasn't sure. I think it's $100 to hook it to the machine. Does anyone know for sure if the etm software is not reprogramable?
I'd rather use the almost new etm but if it's not going to work I can always use the throttle position sensors from it to rebuild my old etm.
