I have to replace the tail gate struts on 98 V70. Wife has had a bump on her head for a week where it fell on her. The fact that she was holding my granddaughter when it fell is the reason I'm fixing it. Bopping the wife on the head every once in a while is kind of funny, but not with my grand children.

I have alread bought the struts. Anybody have directions on how to do this?

 

You need to remove the interior panels in the back of the car. The ones around the rear side windows.
Then you will see them. You will be able to pop them out and replace.

 

I got the struts exposed. Now how do I pop them out?

Never mind I got them. Just had to pry them off.

I foundthat trying to take the back one off first was tough. Prying the front one first make the back one pretty easy.

If anybody is interested, I bought these struts from FCP Groton and they are not OEM and cost about half the price of OEM and they work great. Lifts the tailgate up and not that hard to push down when it it up.

 

Glad it was pretty easy.
