Default Sizing of snow tires

I have a 1999 T5 wagon with 205/55/16 all season tires. Is there a problem with clearences or braking if I use 225/60/16 snow tires
that came off my other vehicle?
thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums Glen. Check into the 'New members area' and peruse the rest of the forum.

The wider tires will actually be a detriment to snow handling. More surface to ride up on the snow and hydroplane on slush. The higher profile/larger diameterwill throw your speedometer up a few MPH.
That being said, they are just slightly larger than the others and you'll have enough clearance, the choice is yours.

Eric is right. However, unless you live where snow is a 4 month thing then the all season tires should be fine.

I would never go with a 225/60 when the car calls for a 205/55. They are going to rub like crazy.

My car calls for 205/50/17 and I run 215/50/17, and have heard that 225/50/17 is too big. When you add the height by going 225/60 instead off 205/55 you are adding height along with width.
