Snow Wheel / Tire Sizing

Snow Wheel / Tire Sizing
I have a 01 T5, and it has the 235/45/17s on it like it came with. However, even when the tires are brand new and "all season", this car is a sled. My thought is to get a set of steel wheels and tires for the winter, but I have a question about wheel size. I found several sizes of tire for 16" and 15" wheels, but will those wheels fit onto my car? And do i need to get volvo steel wheels, or will some of the right bolt pattern work? I'd love to run some 195/65/15s, but I don't want to search for anything if it's not going to work.
I did a search of past threads, and couldn't find anything applicable to my question. If you know of any such threads, please direct me there. Any help on this topic is appreciated. It won't be long until snow is covering the road and people are driving like morons here in the mitten.

Do not fear, most will not thrash you for your new thread.
I would shoot for 205/55/16's. They come on 960's and look and feel great. Also, if you can, find some Volvo wheels to use as spares. I actually found a S70 with Valons on it and new tires for $500. I took the wheels off of it along with some other parts and sold the car WITH NO WHEELS for $500 with 2 phone calls.
There is a deal just waiting for you, you have to find it my young Jedi knight.

I've always run stock size snows with no issue, on our 96 850 I ran two on front mounted on tire rack steels, on our 02 XC I ran 4 mounted on tire rack steels, on our 09 S80 I run two mounted on extra set of venators. If you choose to run two instead of 4, the other two tires must be in decent shape, Ill probably get flamed for suggesting just two, but at work a whole fleet of mix FWD and RWD cars run this way w/out issue.
