Default Steering problem diagnose

I think I might have a problem with the steering rack in my 95K 02 V70 T5. I have startednoticing "play" in the steering wheel. My tires appear to be ok although highly cupped in the back due to bad shocks, shocks and struts were replaced.

What other components could be causing the "play"in the steering?

Whatelse should I look for to diagnose the actual problem?

Thanks,

Default RE: Steering problem diagnose

I would check the lower ball joint/lower table. They are together as the same part. If you have a bad one, you might not get any tire wear but you'll notice that the car will stear funny under load. In other words, the car will turn predictably in one direction but then turn much more sharply in the other the moment the car leans and puts load on that wheel. I have a 98 with 200k on it and my rack is still tight. You'll need a shop to push down on the table with a pry bar to decern if there is play in the ball joint.

Good Luck.
