Tech please help...1999 volvo V70 timing marks NON VVT, with coil on plug
hi all....i have been in this forum for about a year but....always just searched previous threads....thanks for all info on archives...
current problem....
i have a 1999 volvo v70 (base model) B5254s 20 valve...(production date 03-99)
the car DOES NOT HAVE Variable Valve timing, the car DOES have COil on plug... i am unsure of the timing marks ...do i follow the same steps as the 1998 v70 (and 850's) with marks at 11 oclock and 2 oclock ...or do i follow the marks on the newer engines that line up at the 12 oclock marks....logic tell me to do the old method but the timing cover has marks on the 12 oclock marks...really really confused ...
thanks in advance

thanks for your reply....the timing belt snapped so i have no starting point....i plan to re-due the head but i do no want the mess up all my hard works and $$ in valves....the timing marks on the cover are on the 12 oclock mark, HOwever i bought the car used and i am afraid maybe that part is no original...i should have taken a look at the timing marks before it snapped ...but thats life....again thanks for your input
anyone with a similar engine know the marks ?
thanks

Take a look at that post and maybe make your own cam lock tool and install it and see where the timing marks line up when you are done.
If you put it all back together and set them at 12 and it is wrong as long as you are tuning the motor over by hand easily it will not bend the new valves.
