Default Testing An Air Pump

The secondary air pump used in the emissions system, the pierburg pump. I will be getting a used pump and want to know how to give it a basic test. I see a connector, two spades I think. Can I just put 12V to these with my emergency car starter and that will turn on the pump? All I'm wanting to do is the most basic test, see if the thing spins. I'm going new with the other parts and hoses. This job is foolisly expensive. Very disappointed to see such shoddy design for a pretty simple function. I'm figuring over $500.00 to fix this and that with a $130.00 used pump. It's be $700 or more with new everything. Nasty.

Yes you can test with putting power to the pump motor.
I will bet your old one is full of rusty water.

Hi, I'm new a member, but I've owned my 850 for several years.

I was hoping that some expierenced member would be kind enough to answer a question about the poorly designed "air pump". My pump went out last fall - I decided to not replace it until spring. Spring has sprung -I spent the money for a brand new pump (OEM), it arrived, guess what out of the box does not work. I've tryed hooking it up a 12 volt DC power supply, but no go. Is there something I might have missed.

Any suggestions but greatly appreciated,
Dave

Has any one tried taking one apart and repairing it? I'm considering this.
