Is there a way to read CEL codes?
All -
This is my first post to the forum. I recently bought a 1998 V70 T5 manual after selling my 245 a couple years ago. I love the car, it is a great combination of features, but it needs just a little work. My biggest concern at the moment is the Check Engine Light that's on for the second time. The first time I disconnected the battery and reset it, and 5 days later its back. I need to register the car soon in Milwaukee and it requires an emissions check!
I know that on many vehicles it is possible to (for example) jump two pins on the OBD connector and the CEL will flash out a code. The code can then be looked up.
I understand that the AutoZones of the world can read the codes, but my local one was reluctant to help me today and I hate to be dependent on them.
Thanks!

Buy it, use it to scan and clear codes, mount it on the dash and monitor fuel mileage, coolant temp, or any other OBD function. Use it on any 1996 or newer vehicle.

Thanks for the information. That's disappointing that a tool is needed after having a Honda that just flashed it out. Until I know what the cash outlay is to fix what's causing the light, I guess I'll have to find a more accommodating Auto Zone.
