Does anyone know how to reset the time for regular service light in a 2004 v70?

 

Not sure on 04 but here it is for 02 V70:

Reset Maintenance Reminder Message:
1> Turn key to Position I
2> Hold in trip button
3> Turn key to position II within 2 seconds
4> Trip mileage will go to zero, keep pressed in until mileage returns
5> Turn off & restart, message should be off

I have used this for years, it works for 02. The timing is important though.
May not work but trying it won't hurt anything.

I tried the suggested fixes in previous posts about this subject, but they did not work. I may be doing something wrong, but I'm not sure. I have a 2007 V50 and don't feel like taking it to the dealer to pay to have this message removed. Any additional suggestions?

Hello, This one comes up often. This is what I do with success. I offer it to my fellow Volvoers.
Every time I've attempt to reset the "Service Reminder Message" on either my 1999 or 2002 V70 by carefully following the oft mentioned instructions, I've failed.
What I do is get the timing and key positioning into my mussel memory and try to do it fast.
I must confess that the process is more like jabbing at the button whilst turning the key.
The damn message goes out by the third or fourth try.
Instructions to turn the SRM off aren't in my 2002 Owner's Manual; I just looked. I don't recall seeing them in the 1999's.
