Default Tire experience/suggestions

I have had my '03 2.4T for nearly two months and have covered almost 1500 miles. Overall, I am very pleased with the vehicle. The car is still running the OE Michelin MXV4 "Energy" 205/55 16 tires with adequate tread depth. Despite having used and been pleased with Michelin tires for many years, I have come to question these. Given the season, I have had no bad (cold) weather experience but have found that it is quite easy to provoke wheelspin when starting from rest in wet weather. Have others shared this experience and what, if any, more satisfactory alternatives have you found? I prefer an all-weather tire. Winters in this area (Baltimore, MD) are not really severe enough to warrant seasonal swaps.

Thanks

I've got Tiger Paws on my 98 V70R. A little noisy but they hold on well in the rain. Main reason for getting these was "box-store" availablity and a very good price. Only put 2K on them so far so I can't talk about wearability yet.
