Default Tranny flushed again, Added lubeguard.

Hi guys, I had my tranny flushed again, tranny was starting with the old 3-4 flair, flushed with toyota T4 fluid JWS-3309, as used by volvo.
This time the Tranny shop added lubeguard, your thought's on this product????

3-4 flair has now stopped even in hot traffic conditions when it was at it worst.
I know that alot of people have the same issues as i do, so maybe this could be an extension to the life of trannys that are starting to play up, i dont think it would do much for tranny's that are too damaged, but if it gets me through another year i'll be happy i kept the $$$$$ in my pocket rather than fork out for a new tranny.
Don't know how the lubeguard will perform but thats the only thing that the tranny shop would add.

goodluck

I had a rough 3/4 shift on a 93 Benz automatic, The local Mercedes guru said to try Lubeguard ATF protectant first, if that didn't work he said to bring a check good for $4K . The Lubeguard worked .The shift problem cleared up in about 50 miles and I drove the car another 15K trouble free.

The Volvo shop I take my S70 to recommends Lubeguard on all of it's ATF flushes

How's the tranny holding up with the lubeguard? Has anyone tried the Auto-RX transmission cleaner?

Why did you use Toyota t4 ? Is this the same as the volvo ATF? and the lubeguard you used who makes it? I need to flush my tranny. My mechanic wants to get the volvo ATF at $200.00 (I live in Durham Ontario Canada) and I have been reading up on the Volvo ATF debate. I don't know if I can get mobil 3309 and if I can what it will cost. Also Esso makes 3309 is it compatable? This Toyota T4 JWS 3309 I assume I can get from Toyota. Did you use this to flush the system and replace with Volvo ATF? Thank you in advance

Cody,
I used t4 because it's the same as the volvo ATF, just much cheaper to buy from toyota.
I called Mobil Australia and confirmed that it was the same fluid Volvo use,
Volvo don't make the ATF, it's made by Mobil for asian warner transmissions.
So i flushed the system and filled with Toyota T4 ATF.
I have now flushed twice with T4 i have had no issues with the fluid.
I have added lubeguard this time and it seems to be running fine.
no issues yet and about 10k km since last flush.
Check out the link below, it should help.

I called Toyota and the are 7.34/ litre VS Volvo $$$$$$$26.00/litre. I can get a 200 litre drum of mobil at 4.34/litre but unable to get in single litre containers and that is from a mobil dealer. Maybe my mechanic would buy and sell back to customers I don't know.

I put AMSOIL synth ATF in my 01 V70 T5 auto tranny once. It had some hard shifts. I guess it wasn't 3309 compatible. I put this Lubegard product in and it shifted a lot better.

Didn't get rid of all the problems tho so I switched back to 3309 and all is fine now.

From everything I've read, this is good stuff.

Also the B4 servo cover suppose to improve some of the 3-4 shift problems. You might check this out

Is that USD $? I just bought 16 quarts of Toyota T-IV over the last weekend. The invoice shows the list price as $7.13/quart, but I only paid $4.38/quart. It was certainly easier than buying the 3303 online, or paying the high price at the Volvo dealer.

Amsoil ATF is J3309 rated. I use it in my '04 Toyota Sienna and will put it in my V70 soon. At least this stuff is synthetic and flows at -20'C in the winter. The Mobil (Volvo, Toyota etc.) is not.

I see AMSOIL synth ATF is 3309 rated. All I can tell you is that I flush it with this, had shift problems, change it out with Mobil 3309 and shift problems are gone. I did this about 2 years ago tho, not sure if they changed the fluid.

It is synth and is def good stuff. From everything I've read, the key is the right friction index of the fluid.

I used Lubeguard on my 95 Impala SS. Up until 125,000 miles I changed the fluid every 25,000 miles. The last time I changed it (@ 125,000) was with Mobil 1 tranny fluid and Lubeguard. I sold the vehicle last year with over 280,000 miles with the original transmission and no rebuilds. When I flush my V70 in a couple of weeks I will be putting Lubeguard in.
