First off wanted to say thanks to all on this board. I have been lurking around, and can usually seach for the answers to all my volvo gremlins.

I have a 1998 V70 T5 Wagon, has been good to me.. 347,000 KM's, and the auto transmission is done. Shudders, clunks, keeps throwing torque converter codes... Changed the fluid, and it was very burnt. I am pretty sure its done..

Anyhow, what models/years are compatible ?

My neighbour has a scrap 94 Volvo, which has the identical motor (20v 5 cylinder), just non turbo. Will this tranny work for my v70 ?

I'm not sure, but since nobody has answered yet, it might be worth a call to the service dept of a dealership and ask them. Might even try a couple dealers to see if you get the same answer. My gut feel is that it will not work, but I'm just guessing.

 

So I am taking a guess that you have the AW50-42? Is your neighbor's 94 an 850? If so, at least they share the same tranny. I looked at other models for 94 and no other ones have that tranny. Good luck.

 

The Gear ratio might be a little different but will still work.
