Default Transmission v70 2004 na....need help!

What are my options......

Have 158k miles, just changed fluid (3309) to see if it would fix it, last changed prior (3309) at 102k miles, purchased used at 42k miles COP. Took to dealer, car is sluggish and acceleration is poor and difficult to merge on freeway. Seems to hesitate at 4k-5k rpms, bucks slightly, eventually gets there. Driving very conservatively driveline is bit noisier....little more vibration IMHO.

Dealer says the news is bad and Tranny must be replaced....$4,900.

I will take to independent for 2nd opinion.

What are my options?

Erie Volvo has used trannys with Lifetime Warranty but who is going to put it in?

Do these trannys rebuild well?

Default "..You'd better shop around"

Hello, My transmission guy in New Jersey quoted a price of $3,500 for a rebuild job. I'm under the impression that these transmissions are good strong units. I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that Ford deliberately weakened the valve body. This transmission is great in every other car. You know what your options are. Kira

'01&'02 trans valve bodies are of bad design. '03 and up are different. '04 should be a good valve body but the trans can still fail. Also bought a spare trans just in case from a rear ended wreck. Best bet is used trans and Erie seems to be somewhat fair with pricing as far as I can tell. Don't go the rebuilt route.
