Default Turn signal problem

I am getting a turn signal bulb failure text... All the bulbs are working but the turn signal flashes faster than the passenger side signal. So we figured it was a bulb... just for the fun we tried the hazard flashers and they work fine all at the correct speed.

How can a bulb be failing when a turn signal is working but work properly when in hazard mode?

If a bulb is at fault how can I find out which one is bad?

Default Same thing here

Hello, My car, a 2002 V70 base w/119K, has the same issue. I changed the front left turn signal bulb and the problem went away for ONE DAY. I (we) must at least try new bulbs in all locations-meaning front, rear and side indicator lamps-before we freak. I'm beginning to anyway because the new bulb seemed to fix the problem. I will try again to replace the turn signal bulbs with a different brand. I wouldn't be surprised if this is something the designers built into their cars so you have to go in for a Volvo specific service. Kira ps Please provide the year and mileage of your car rsxer63. K

Default I was right and wrong

Hello, I went out side and took another look at my rapidly flashing left hand signals. I noticed that the large filament of my front 1157A bulb wasn't lighting. The small filament was working as a parking light should. I tried the second bulb from the EIKO 2-pack I had opened new two days ago. SAME THING. I went out and bought another 2-pack of 1157A bulbs. This time from Sylvania. All is well. So, rsxer63, just try another brand of bulb-at least so you know they're good. I was wrong about evil Volvo designers programming my flashers to flutter. Kira

I will do that... I went to a friends shop and he seemed to think it is the flasher even though it works fine for 4 way. He said it is the way the Volvo is wired for turn signals and 4 way. i will try another bulb first though.

Default Odd development

Hello, Who'd a thought this? After all was said and done with my FL park and signal bulb IT BEGAN FLASHING RAPIDLY AGAIN. This time I took the bulb holder out of the reflector while it was flashing. The short of it is that I backed it out a bit (CCW,as if removing the bulb), the other filament lit up and the thing flashed normally. Plainly put: it was as if the bulb went a little past the "stops" of it's bayonet mount. It took to being reset and is flashing normally. If it resumes rapid flashing I'll wedge a little piece of rubber between the bulb base and the socket. If that were to fail I'd next try a small dab of silicone rubber to keep the bulb from turning. Maybe the lugs on the 1157A bulb are too short. It couldn't be that the socket is worn. All in all I'm just glad it's not an electrical problem. Kira

I had played with mine for two days and even though the 1157s fit, the pass side one kept acting up. While the car was in for a timing belt and water pump, I had them put in Volvo bulbs and all is perfect! they charged me 7.00 and change to put them in.

I just bought an 01 v70 that had a left turn signal issue I replaced the bulb but still had the rapid flashing so I went to the dealer and picked up a replacement socket and bulb cost me 15 bucks and solved the issue.

The old non working socket was gray and the new one is black and brown.
