Default V70 - Another A/C problem

Hi - I wonder if anyone can help by letting me know some checks I can do myself to diagnose fault on a/c of my 2002 V70.

Just bought car and A/c was recharged and working well. 2 weeks later the a/c has stopped working and took it in for leak test.

Result was that no leak could be seen on external components.

So guess if it has leaked it could be evaporator that cant be seen?

Can I check that the a/c compressor is kicking in or that it is a low pressure fault by by passing a swithc - i did this on a on 940 - but teh v70 looks a little more complicated.

Anything else I could check?

Many thanks for your help.

The V70 does not have a low pressure switch. It has a evap temp sensor that works in place of the low pressure switch.

Is it kicking on at all?

I have not ever tried. Maybe see what the pressures are in the system.

Yes you can . in the main fuse panel under the hood, remove the relay labeled compressor and it will have 5 terminals on the bottom. The one terminal that is closest to the three all going the same direction is the one feeds power to the ac clutch.

Run a hot wire from the positive battery post and stick the other end into the socket for the terminal and you should hear the clutch click in even with the car off.

You can wedge the wire into the socket so it wll stay while you start the car and see if the rest of the system is working.

The terminal is NUMBER 5 and to test the ac clutch you do not need to put the relay back in. It should work by just putting the wire into the sockets number 5 terminal slot.
