Default V70 ignition recognition

Lately we have been having an issue starting the car. Sometimes when I insert the key it will not turn. No amount of fiddling with the key or the steering wheel helps. What does work is putting the key in, then doing some other stuff before you try to turn the key. That works. Is there a chip that is wearing out or maybe a battery in the key?

I have been having the same problem with mine. I have left the key in the ignition and not removed it since the problem started. This way I have no problem when it is time to go, except I can't lock the car and anyone can steal it. LOL I have been told that I need a new ignition cylinder. I googled on ehow.com and it tells me exactly how to do this myself and I am going to do it. Maybe you can try the above and see if it is the cylinder.
