ok im new here and it did nto take long i guess to have probs. not happy. i am about ready to put a foot in someones behind. when the break failure light come on my cruise control wont work on my 2001 v70. the stc light comes on as well., the brakes in my opionon feel a bit spongy. i can live with the stc but i need cruise control to stay out of trouble. do i buy a for sale sign and try and stick this thing with someone else or can i fix it for a hundred bucks. my first volvo. Most likely the ABS module is bad. You can get it rebuilt for about $100.00.

 

tech: i called volvo dealer today, service said he never heard of a rebuilt. where can you get them. also after readig all of the stuff that goes wrong im thinkin of puttin the for sale sign up. i scare $#itless about this thing making me go broke. man i figured VOLVO. this must be a great car. the abs light is off now the cruise controll works. my mechanic cant diagnos unless the code is locked in. said it could also be a whell senor delaer qouted 1100 buck to fix. i can live without abs but when the brake failure is on no cruise control. any help?

Stop panicin and send it to where tech said. they are all here to help and save you money. dont go to places that think ahhhhhhh? a volvo owner, money money money..... thats rubbish, we are not all made of gold. relax and good luck with the motor.....John.

I haven't used him yet I need to send one of mine as well so im not sure but someone on here should.

 

so my volvo dealer quoted me 1100 us $ to fix over phone . i stop in today in person now it is 1500 us $ i said it was 1100 2 days ago....oh we raised our price 400 us .you raised your price [:@]

 

Send it to get rebuilt.

had not had a problem in five days
my mech. got me an abs module sealed in the package shipped from somewhere. he has work on foreing cars plenty and has never got a bad part from his source
got it for 550.00
put it in and now every light associated with abs problem is on and wont go away. engin brake abs and the car on uneven road i think it is the stc now the odometer doesnt work

Are you 100% sure he got the right one? I think there is 4 different ones for the V70.

 

today 1 of 2
we matched the numbers up when we ordered the part, today i had it test by volvo tech and his computer . here is what it said

cem1a5f communication w/ abs control module signal missing
ecm510f vehicle speed signal missing
abs0095 cont.mod com, cont mod com

volvo tech said it was a bad new one. we can get another one from the same source but what if we put it in and it doesnt work

today in the morning

Volvo Tech confirmed that the part that was in there was the one for fwd w/stc and abs. my original tech confirmed the same part number went in as the one that came out. and the volvo tech this a.m. confirmed it was the correct module to go in

today this afternoon

also stop in to Fields Volvo in Libertyville ,IL. these guys were nice enough to read the info i provided by Volvo Tech this a.m. then put their computer on and confirmed the info that was read this a.m. was the same info that they read. now the part number that Fields Volvo would put in for my car based on the vin and confirming that i am 2001 v70 2.4 turbo fwd and stc was volvo part number 861945. they agreed on a diagnoses of a bad ABS Module

a second one was ordered by my original mechanic. i hope this works. this is supposed to be plug and play with no logic to upload to the module. keep in mind the one that was on the car was intermitent . i assume the ability to transfer info from point a to point b is intact. what else could it be. both volvo mechanics believe it is the module.

 

I would say module as well. The only other thing it could be is wiring somewhere.
