V70 T5: a good model?
Just checking to see if anybody has any input on the 2002 V70 T5 model. I'm looking at one that is a manual with 100K miles. I currently have a '98 V70 with about 200K on it. The T5 still has the original clutch which is supposedly tight. should I be overly concerned about the clutch and replacing it sometime soon?
I understand the T5 is a high pressure turbo, should I be concerned about that too?
this guy who is selling it has maintained it well and is the original owner. Any feedback you could give would be appreciated. Thanks,Shawn

Why worry about a HPT (High Pressure Turbo)? That just means more power.
If you don't get the HPT you will be missing out on some fun driving and if you go with an LPT or NA you will be sorry you missed out on the HPT.

I guess what I was getting at was if the high pressure turbos are more problematic than the LPT's. The HPT is why I want to buy the car! should I be concerned about the life of the clutch and cost of replacing the clutch? it has about 100K miles on it... Sounds like this car really has some get-up-N-go.
Those cars are really hard to find if you can buy it I would buy it in a Heartbeat!!
The clutch life is all buy hot it is driven.
My Mustang clutch went 150,000 miles. The only reason I changed it was because the throw-out bearing went bad. The disc still had life to it.
But I got a Deal on an entire kit that made it worth wild to change it while it was all apart.

The seller says the clutch is tight and there is no slipping, so based on that, can I assume the clutch has some life to it? I am just worried about replacement costs of the clutch. A major job I imagine.
The easiest way to tell about how much clutch is left is to feel where it grabs.
Since it is a hydrolic clutch when it wears it will grab higher.
If it grabs pretty low then there should be life left to it.
I think labor would be between 8-10 hours.

Thats about what the parts will cost.

Thanks Tech, I will ask seller how low the clutch grabs. Have you had any experience with the automatics that can be manually shifted as well? Do they really shift like a Manual transmission when it's in that mode? maybe going with the triptonic tranny would be the safer bet if I want to be able to shift my car...
A V70 T5 five speed is VERY hard car to find. If I were you I would ****** it up in a minute. Any time you buy a standard transmission you have to expect to replace the clutch at some point. I have never even driven a Volvo Turbo five speed, but I sure would love to. Where is this car?
