Default V70 vibration

I have a volvo V70(2001) 2.4 petrol model.
I am experiencing severe body vibration intermittantly.
Initiallly while driving along the road there is quire a noticable vibration travelling through the complete car. I Checked to see if there was any vibration from the transmission or through the steering, but these were found to be okay. Initially I thought there was a flat tyre as symptoms were similar to this with the car slightly pulling to one side. Checked tyres and wheels and found nothing wrong. There is not any vibration when at idle.
I started driving the car again with no signs of vibration. This has happened several times now at different speeds and different road conditions. I have had the car into a garage and checked the car over with no faults found with the suspension, wheels etc.

Can anyone please advise
Gordon

Hello g-p-f, If it's an AWD car I'd suggest looking at the center driveshaft. You can remove it and see if your vibration stays away. Inspect the engine mounts too. How many miles on this 2001? Kira

Kira,
its not AWD. 120,000 miles on the clock. Vibration is not there all the time, the car can be driven for weeks if not a month or so before the vibration appears again.
I would have thought if it was engine mounts that it would be there all the time, correct me if Im wrong.
Regards

You really have to wait till it happens again to have a shot at it.
When it does happen, notice the engine RPMs, toss into neutral and notice any difference as well as changing engine speed also.
You need to determine if its road speed or engine speed that makes the difference.

Default Start looking

Hello, Suspension bushings can make a car wobble from time to time too. If you have the room try steering in either direction and see if you can make the vibration change at all. Inspect your lower control arm bushings and your tie rod ends. Kira
